Greenwich is just 6 miles from central London. This London Borough has been flagged up as one of London’s top destinations. The National Maritime Museum is in Greenwich, a testament to Britain’s naval power in the 18th century. This district is a UNESCO World Heritage site and includes important attractions such as the Cutty Sark, The Old Royal Observatory and Greenwich Park.

Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian line makes Greenwich one of the most important scientific locations in the world. In more recent times it has become home to the 02 Arena and the Docklands is also not far away. The centre of Greenwich with its many independent restaurants, cafe’s, the market and hordes of visitors from around the globe give the town a very special appeal of its own. There is just so much to see and do here.

Greenwich has now become a Royal Borough and a new £59 million pound cable car has been built to ferry visitors to and from the north side of Greenwich to the Royal Docks on the other side of the Thames. With so much on tap visitors should make the award winning Tourist Information Centre by the Cutty Sark their first point of call. Try not to rush Greenwich in a day since you will not do it justice. A long weekend is definitely recommended.
