Wall to Wall Michael Pennington

Wall to Wall Michael Pennington (Deceased)
Now available in paperback – ISBN 1904754627

Michael Pennington met a violent death – murdered and thrown into a coal shaft that was later bricked up. His body remained undiscovered for over thirty years. Jack, however, witnessed the gruesome event, powerless to do anything about it – he was, after all, in the spirit world himself.

In the afterlife, Michael struggled to come to terms with his extraordinary existence. Like many other spirits, he was a lost soul trapped by past trauma. Desperate for retribution, he painstakingly learned to communicate using modern technology – the internet. Would his death be avenged?

Michael’s story may seem far-fetched and beyond the laws of physics, but the growing number of strange contacts and stories on message forums should not be dismissed lightly. Wall to Wall Michael Pennington is more than a paranormal whodunnit; it provokes searching questions about future supernatural contact with the past.

Wall to Wall Michael Pennington book cover

The story started on January 15th, 2004, on a Birmingham message forum. A person calling himself Michael Pennington described his murder in 1971 and his subsequent existence as a spirit in an old derelict boatyard. When the building later became occupied, the ghost found a way to communicate with the living using a computer.

The story was unusual in that it was told from the perspective of a ghost. Over several weeks, the writer continued his account, answering questions and explaining his existence and what he claimed was a global mission on Earth. The author is listed as Michael Pennington (Deceased), a detail that becomes more intriguing when he directly addresses the reader from beyond the grave.

Pennington is an easy character to sympathise with, retaining human emotions such as fear, loss, and self-analysis after death. This makes him very different from traditional ghostly figures. His humanity is particularly evident in the relationship between himself, Janet, and the dead Jack, as well as in his conversational and often confiding tone.

At its heart, the book questions the purpose of ghostly apparitions. As Pennington asks, “What are ghosts supposed to do?” His existence appears threefold: to help the living appreciate life, to bridge the gap between worlds, and to track down his murderer. The result is a compelling mix of supernatural reflection and whodunnit mystery.
