Cadbury World is an adventure into the world of chocolate. From humble
beginnings in a shop in Birmingham, the Cadbury brothers created a
chocolate empire that now has factories around the world.
The Cadbury factory at Bournville has a visitor centre dedicated to the
history of chocolate. Both educational and excitingly portrayed, visitors
can learn how cocoa beans are grown, how they were imported to Europe,
and how they became the chocolate we know today. The exhibition explores
how chocolate has changed over the years and what made Cadbury so successful.
There is also an excellent factory shop where visitors can purchase a wide
range of Cadbury products at factory prices. The tour is optional and not
required to access the shop for those who simply wish to purchase chocolate.
A restaurant and cafeteria are available on site, along with a play area
for children.
Special features include a 3D video story and an interactive theatre which
explores chocolate, its manufacture, and its advertising, while also
providing insight into the Cadbury family who created the UK’s favourite
chocolate brand.
This is one of the main West Midlands attractions and draws visitors from
across the UK and beyond. More than 500,000 people visit Cadbury World
each year. During peak holiday periods it is advisable to book in advance,
as only a limited number of factory tours can be accommodated daily.
During the winter months Cadbury World is open on selected days only,
but from mid-February it operates seven days a week.
