Stratford upon Avon
Stratford-upon-Avon is a very popular tourist destination due to its association with William Shakespeare. It is a market town on the River Avon, just 91 miles from London and only 22 miles from Birmingham. There has been a settlement here since before the Anglo Saxons.

This is the birthplace and burial place of the famous playwright William Shakespeare. The Royal Shakespeare Company is still based here and the town receives over 3 million visitors a year.

The town has many good restaurants and is a popular destination at weekends for bikers. It can get very busy so try to visit during the mid week period if you can. With over 800 years of recorded history and plenty of old buildings and attractions you should make sure that Stratford upon Avon is on your list of places to visit.
