Wightwick Manor is widely regarded as one of the finest properties in the West Midlands. While this is, of course, a personal judgement, the approach from the car park, crossing the bridge over the road and taking in the beautiful grounds and views across the valley, makes for a memorable day out. Wightwick Manor was built by the Mander family, successful 19th-century industrialists. This Victorian manor was completed in 1887 and extended in 1893.

Wightwick Manor is famous for its interior design by William Morris and C. E. Kempe. The original William Morris wallpapers and fabrics remain intact, and the Kempe stained glass is superb. The extensive gardens complement the grandeur of the house, as do the associated outbuildings.

The house was passed to the National Trust by Sir Geoffrey Mander in 1937. Descendants of the Mander family still retain a residence within the manor.
