Sandwell Park farm occupies a place within the 660 acres of the Sandwell Valley Country Park. Originally home to the Earl of Dartmouth who lived nearby at the now demolished Sandwell Hall. The buildings date back to 1705. Now a visitor centre the Sandwell Park Farm illustrates farm life and a historical account of the history of the area. This is a wonderful day out for children and families with plenty of open space to tire out the kiddies.
Main features of the centre are its walled kitchen garden, produce of which is sold in the shop, a blacksmiths shop, wheelwrights shop and a schoolroom. A variety of events and demonstrations take place throughout the year which include craft fairs. Entry is free on weekdays but chargeable at weekends. The livetock which can be seen at the centre or in the surrounding fields include, shire horses, cows, poultry, pigs and sheep of which some are rare breeds.
