Norfolk House School is an independent co-educational day school located in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The school has a long-established history, originally founded in 1934 under the name Garry House before moving to its current Norfolk Road site in the 1960s and becoming Norfolk House School in 1967. Today, it is regarded as a well-respected preparatory school within the city.
The school caters for boys and girls aged 3 to 11, covering early years through to the end of primary education. Pupils are taught in small class sizes, allowing for individual attention and a strong focus on both academic development and pastoral care. The curriculum is broad and balanced, designed to prepare pupils confidently for the transition to grammar schools and independent secondary schools, with a good record of success in 11+ examinations.
As an independent school, Norfolk House is inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) rather than Ofsted. While it does not appear in national league tables, inspection reports consistently highlight the school’s supportive learning environment, high teaching standards, and positive outcomes for pupils. The school is widely regarded as offering a strong educational foundation within the independent sector in Birmingham.
