Blackheath

Blackheath has a large number of curry houses and takeaway restaurants. Now mainly a residential area, Blackheath is known for its close proximity to Smethwick and its industrial past. A significant proportion of the housing consists of Victorian buildings constructed around the turn of the century.

There are some local shops, although no real high street. Shopping is fairly fragmented, but there is still a reasonable range of facilities available locally.

If you enjoy traditional working men’s pubs, this is the place. Some venues can be rough and occasionally prone to trouble. According to the Knowhere Guide, strip clubs are popular, along with skateboarding, informal gathering spots, and a notable number of charity shops.
