Ariel was a Birmingham and later Coventry based company manufacturing
motorcycles and automobiles from 1900 to 1925.
Originally the company built motorcycles and quadricycles at its factory in Bournbrook but by 1902 they were producing engine powered cars. Ariel was one of the leading names in British motorcycling. The company was sold to BSA in 1944.
The company still exists today as a motor manufacturer although it is now only a small
production high value producer of the Atom two seater sports car in Somerset. The Ariel Atom performance vehicle was featured in Top Gear and tested by Jeremy Clarkson. Further details can be found on their website.
