Ambulance Trust

West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust is the second largest ambulance service in the UK. It is one of the most consistent and high-performing regional trusts, having been awarded Ambulance Service of the Year in both 2007 and 2008.

The Trust employs over 3,500 staff and handles approximately 450,000 emergency calls each year. The area it covers includes Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Coventry and Warwickshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Birmingham, and the Black Country. This represents a geographical area of around 5,000 square miles, serving a population of approximately 5.3 million people.

With 63 ambulance stations and more than 800 vehicles, it is one of twelve ambulance trusts in England and forms part of the NHS, from which it receives direct funding.
