Lickey Hills

Lickey Hills is one of the region’s oldest parks. An area of outstanding beauty, this has long been a favourite destination for the citizens of Birmingham. The views from Beacon Hill across the city are outstanding. The park itself covers some 500 acres and also includes a golf course, bowls, tennis courts, and a putting green.

The visitor centre, which was built in 1990, is a popular place for rest and refreshments. It also offers a range of guide books and recommended walks. Lickey Hills attracts over 500,000 visitors each year and is an excellent adventure playground for children. When snow falls, the visitor centre is quickly surrounded by local children with their sledges, as the hill it stands on provides a safe and enjoyable launch point.

Lickey Hills is home to a wide variety of habitats, with over 380 species of flowering plants and a rich range of wildlife. The area was designated as a Country Park in 1971.
