Birmingham International Airport handles over 8 million passengers a
year. This is one of the UK's largest airports. A £260 million
development programme is in progress and there are more check-in desks,
an additional multi-storey car park and work is currently taking place
on building further access roads.
Birmingham International Airport has become the first Airport in the UK
to have the wireless Internet facility. It is modern and efficient and
ranks highly in the world airport ratings. The facilities are what you
would expect from a modern airport and include the usual shops and
restaurants and easy access to long and short term parking. The car
park buses are particularly efficient and run every few minutes.
Check
in and Check out facilities are a breeze and the airport is spacious
and well presented to the visitor. The ease of transport links to the
city of Birmingham and beyond, no shortage of taxis and buses is an
added bonus. It's close proximity to the National Exhibition Centre
makes this a popular destination for the business community as well as
serving the needs of the tourists.
A
recent addition to the airport is the new SkyRail facility which links
the terminals with Birmingham International Station.
Birmingham Airport handled 8.27 million passengers by the end of March
2003 which is an incredible achievement given the problems recently
with terrorism and the resulting decrease in air travel. Birmingham
International serves all major European centres, the Middle East and
North America. Low cost airlines are prospering and are regular users
of Birmingham International.
